

Julie Haff, Superintendent, has been an educator for more than 35 years, during which time she has served as a classroom teacher, mentor teacher, elementary school principal, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Director of Personnel, and Superintendent. Julie has been an employee of the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District since 1978 and has served as Superintendent of the District since 2002. Ms. Haff is an active member of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) and the California School Boards Association (CSBA). She has served in an elected position on ACSA’s Superintendents Council and has worked on numerous committees involving the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District, Santa Cruz County Office of Education, and ACSA. Julie has presented to the State Board of Education, the California Senate Education Committee and at the CSBA Annual Conference. She serves as the chair of the North Santa Cruz County SELPA and was recently recognized as the 2013 Administrator of the Year in Santa Cruz County. In addition, Ms. Haff is an active member and past president of the San Lorenzo Valley Rotary Club and is a new Board member for Bay Federal. Ms. Haff received her teaching credential from San Jose State University and her Masters in Educational Administration from Santa Clara University.

Dr. Hollie Becker, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services, came to the San Lorenzo Valley from Kansas with over ten years of experience. Hollie taught theatre, social studies, speech, English and Spanish at the secondary level in both suburban and urban schools. Additionally, she coached debate, forensics, and dance team, sponsored Thespians and National Forensics League, and directed, choreographed, and designed 4 theatre productions a year (one traveling) as a theatre teacher. Administratively, Hollie has served as both a building and district administrator in both urban and rural, and regular and alternative settings. She held a position in secondary social studies curriculum in an urban district overseeing six middle schools, three comprehensive high schools, and an alternative high school. In addition, Hollie also helped write a school improvement grant that was funded for $5.89 million for a school turnaround. Prior to her position here, Hollie served as a K-12 Curriculum Coordinator, working towards full implementation of the Common Core State Standards in both math and language arts. Hollie is passionate about meaningful, relevant professional development and curriculum, and has presented to state and national audiences. She is a self-proclaimed “language enthusiast” with a goal of speaking seven languages. Dr. Becker received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas, and her MA in Education, MA in Counseling Psychology, and undergraduate degrees from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Liann Reyes Chief Business Officer, Business Services Department comes to the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District after five years with the Scotts Valley Unified School District, where her last position was Director of Business Services. She was one of 25 hand selected participants chosen from the State of California to participate in the prestigious CBO Mentor Project; a rigorous one-year program designed to produce qualified district CBO’s, which she successfully completed in 2007. Liann is also a Certified Chief Business Official through the California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) and is a member of ACSA and CASBO.
