Todays Date:

Rory, Evin, Avery, Dylan, and Gabe (five of our Charter School homeschool students) attended the MATE program which gets kids involved with hands-on science projects.  They participated in the 'build an ROV' workshop Dec. 5 at UCSC where they assembled PVC pipe into a frame to hold three engines and used a tethered remote to control the ROV underwater.   Five engineers were on hand to guide them and give advice.
They had a blast and all of them want to compete in April. The ROV's at the workshop did not go home with our kids, so the next step is for them to completely build their own rig, inventing their own ROV for the competition. Then they will go to a wiring course where a team of engineers will help them wire their remote.  Great job Gabe, Dylan, Avery, Evin, and Rory!  We wish you well in the competition.

Our Mission
SLVUSD Charter School provides Choice, Community, Personalization and High Quality Educational Opportunities designed to meet every learner’s needs.

Our school is one of the five schools in the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District (SLVUSD) www.slv.k12.ca.us/.  As a district charter school, our students enjoy participating in sports, music and activities with the traditional schools in our district.  With some restrictions, they are also invited to take classes concurrently at SLVHS www.slvhs.slv.k12.ca.us/ and at Cabrillo College www.cabrillo.edu.

Our faculty and staff are employed by the SLVUSD and participate in the San Lorenzo Valley Teacher’s Association (SLVTA), the California Teacher’s Association CTA www.cta.org/home.aspx and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) www.seiu.org.

We are parents and teachers who trust and believe in children. We know that children need time to play and imagine. Children are natural learners and unhindered will strive to acquire new skills continuously. We walk a spiral path not a straight line and support each other in the day to day challenges of child-rearing.

We provide:

We are old fashioned and enjoy face to face or ear to ear communication. If you are interested in joining our program, please contact Estelle at 831-336-0942 box 3.
